Nick Marsh, Managing Director, Harvey Nash
Since joining Harvey Nash in 2002, Nick has worked in the Executive Search business. He honed his expertise as Chairman of Odgers Ray and Berndtson’s international technology practice, where he helped to develop a new technology market presence and successfully completed many board-level technology and telecoms assignments. Nick is now Global Managing Director for the Harvey Nash Executive Search business, currently ranked top 10 in Europe and employing over 150 people worldwide.
What was your first job?
As a student, I did 3 very different jobs. I worked as a Roulette Croupier in Sheffield, as an Analyst for a Chemicals company in Zimbabwe and as a Crisp factory packer and potato peeler
What’s the greatest challenge facing your business now?
Our biggest challenge is attracting and retaining the best talent.
Who is the best manager you have ever had?
I’ve had 2 managers who have really impressed and inspired me; Anne Riley at Austin Knight and Albert Ellis at Harvey Nash.
Who would you want with you on a desert island?
My wife.
What’s been your best business decision?
My best business decision was to acquire the leading Executive Search firm in Scandinavia, Alumni, last year.
What do you drive?
Audi A3 2.0 TDi, and Triumph Sprint ST 1050, and Ginetta GT race car..!
What time do you start work?
7.00am mmm…nice
What gadget can’t you live without?
My Blackberry.
How do you relax?
Racing in the British GT championship.
