Mad for it
Professional Recruiter - 2000-11-15
From the city that brought us Morrissey, the Stone Roses and Terry Christain, the Hacienda club, Oasis and Coronation Street, there is a new cultural change afoot. A decade ago, Manchester was a grey, impoverished city skulking in the shadows of industrial decline. But now, urban regeneration and regional investment have made it a strong commercial force once more.
With investment comes a demand for recruiters. Demand for good consultants in the region is increasing, according to recruitment-to-recruitment company Perriam & Everett, which opened its Manchester venue in July. "We realised we had to have a full-time operation here," says MD Zena Everett. "I think there's even greater competition for good people here than in the south."
