Wrong sort of message
Recruiter Magazine - 2008-01-30
The REC has announced that it will not use headhunters or agencies to find its new chief executive ( Recruiter,16 January). This decision has been made after a failed Sunday Timesadvert more than three months ago and interviewing at least 20 unsuccessful applicants. The directors are now going to “invest their own time and carry out a search” and thus “not break the bank”. This statement was made by none other than the director of external relations, Tom Hadley! Our own trade association does not seem to grasp the most fundamental value of using a dedicated recruitment specialist. What message does this decision give out to its membership? And how can it possibly fly the flag for us with clients, candidates and politicians when it promotes this kind of business practice internally?
