Recession will hit us hard

The imminent recession in the UK will hit the recruitment industry hard, an audience of recruiters heard.
'We will see the most closures we have ever seen in recruitment,' Sue Dodd, a director of business intelligence consultancy Agile Intelligence, told the Perriam and Everett Annual Staffing Sector Review in London this month.
Dodd predicted many of those who leave the industry during the recession would be recruiters 'who haven't brought much to the picture apart from a bad reputation'
She suggested that when the recession ended, 'either in early 2010 or 2011', the industry that emerged would be 'better and leaner'.
